Wood

Baton Rouge, LA

At Malina Woodworks, we repurpose locally fallen trees and hand turn them to create functional art pieces. Once we source a fallen tree or log; the grain, size, shape, and location of knots are all used to determine how to best emphasize the natural beauty and grain that makes each piece truly unique. Working with wood guarantees that no two pieces are ever exactly the same and each piece is crafted to be used, loved, and passed down.

A machinist by trade, I began turning wood in 2018 just out of curiosity, and immediately fell in love with the craft. I’ve always been creative, and woodturning gives me the opportunity to share that creativity with others. Wood is a challenging media, and I love a challenge. However, my favorite aspect is that each piece of wood is unique and I can always be surprised and awed by the beauty of the finished product.
